Approximately 85 members and friends (many of them Deck House owners) toured two renovated

Deck Houses in Concord, Massachusetts, on a glorious fall afternoon. They were able to

experience the houses brought back to life. Eve Isenberg, the architect for both renovations

provided a presentation highlighting the value of the houses, showing the process with before and

after images, and providing details.  Special guest Robert Brownell, co-founder of the Deck House

    company, was present.

Eve’s  presentation began with a statistic provided by a contractor estimating the number of

dumpsters filled by the demolition of a Deck House: 14. The homes are part of a mid-century

modern neighborhood in a western suburb of Boston, Massachusetts. Eve spoke to the value of

these houses and neighborhoods and cited a quote by David Fixler -

“Massachusetts in fact has the richest and most diverse variety of Modern neighborhoods, some of

which are the most architecturally influential and significant to be found anywhere in the world.”
