The purple Alcoa Care Free House was the scene of a fun event - a fast-paced lecture on aluminum by Katherine Mierzwa, and a tour of this special house built in 1957 as a showcase for aluminum building materials. The house's original homeowner was tracked down and invited to attend by the current owners, and a birthday cake was presented to both owners in celebration of the Alcoa House's 50th birthday. There was so much member interest in this event that FoMA had to add a second lecture and tour at the last minute. Katherine's talk on the history of aluminum was recorded onto DVD and is available at the Lincoln Public Library.
