Please join us at deCordova Museum on Thursday evening, June 4 as deCordova and FoMA greet award winning German architectural photographer and cultural polymath Mark Romisch in the first in a series of cultural events meant to deepen our understanding of cultural impulses in the world around us and within us.
Mark views architectural photography not just as an exercise in documentation but as a poetic exploration of built spaces and the natural environment around them. The son of a photographer, Mark was born in Germany. With an M. A. in German Literature, Communication, and Computer Linguistics, Mark received a BFA in Acting and Theatre. For over 15 years he has taught German language, literature, and culture at Harvard, Wellesley College and Northeastern. Often inspired by German Romantic poetry, at MIT Mark received the Ruth Levitan Teaching Award.
Photographs hanging in the Dewy Gallery from Mark's second book Land and Form will be the starting point for a journey, with FoMA's own polymath, Woodie Arthur, into the minds of the creative and the cultural landmarks they leave and often inspire.
This will be the first in a series inviting Lincoln residents and our members to meet with artists to see what they see, hear what they hear, and share what we can as we together we interpret and explore the connections which bring us together in cultural understanding.
